Honor Society Updates

Member-Get-A-Member Campaign Continues
The Member-Get-A-Member campaign has begun for the 2008-09 year, and members are en­couraged to recommend their friends and colleagues to join the honor society as a nurse leader. The new campaign began in October, and since then, 153 honor society members have referred more than 180 nurse leaders for membership. Members participating in the campaign have the chance to win priz­es. Participating members will receive an honor society static sticker, recognition on the honor society's Web site and recogni­tion at either the biennial convention or Leadership Academy. Members who make referrals are entered into quarterly drawings to win a US $50 gift card. Members whose referrals result in an induction are entered in a grand prize draw­ing worth US $250.

New Members-Only Benefits
New members-only FREE continuing education credits are available on the honor society's Web site, www.nursingsociety.edu/Education, by clicking on "Members Only." The four courses can earn up to 68 credit hours, and are a US $300 value! No matter your specialty, these courses will give you insight on how to build stronger teams, live a more balanced life and deal with difficult personalities - skills everyone can use.

A special book of letters is being created to provide an opportunity for friends and colleagues of Carol J. Huston to acknowledge her contributions as the society's president during 2007-09. Please mail letters to the attention of Margie Wilson at:

International Nursing Research Congress Focusing on Evidence-Based Practice
Registration is now open for the 20th International Nursing Research Congress, conducted 13-17 July 2009, in Cancun, Mexico. Attendees can anticipate cutting edge research presentations, well-known keynote speakers and interaction and networking with nurse researchers from around the globe. The second honor society trip is set for Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, USA, and will be chartered through Elderhostel. The trip will begin 3 May 2009. The cost of the trip is $831 for double occupancy (an upgrade to single occupancy is available for an additional fee). The International Academic Nursing Alliance (IANA) is a database that allows nurses worldwide to access information and resources from schools of nursing that facilitate collaborations, exchanges, mentoring opportunities, research and faculty development. IANA is free to schools of nursing for posting information and to searchers seeking information. Visit www.nursingsociety.org to view the resource.

The honor society's Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library provides free resources to registered users. Login to access six, full-text resources selected each month from CINAHL® and the Nursing Reference Center.
